gLOVEbox bundles are simple:
Put together a care package to carry in the glovebox and give away to someone who is homeless when your paths cross and your lives intersect. A bundle may include: granola bars, socks, gloves, restaurant gift certificates, bus tokens, or other items that promote and give life.
Distribute the bundles to friends and family to carry in their glovebox. Feel more adventuresome….Take a piece of cardboard and write “Homeless- help” on the sign. Stand on a street corner holding the sign and when someone rolls down their window to give you some spare change, hand them a gLovebox bundle and invite them to give it away and share the story. Add a note in your bundles directing them to this site to share the story from their perspective. Sad to say, but best to do this with a partner for the sake of safety as the homeless are vulnerable victims of abuse and robbery.
Tell your story about your experience and what you did. Want to write about it? Blog it here or on your own blog. Want to share what happened in a video? Post it on youtube. Or maybe, just tell the story of what happened with a friend. Things change– when we decide that we will act. Change is perpetuated– when we share what we have done.
How do we put a red light on apathy? How do we turn the light to green and energize each other for new eyes and helpful hands as we engage our neighbor in need? How do we proceed wih yellow light caution as we enter a construction zone of dialog and intentionality around the care we share for each other?
We don’t have the answers, but somehow, together, we must be the answer.
